We’re pleased to share that Alessandro Bisagni, our Founder and President, participated as a panelist at the EuroCham Industrial Park and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Forum 2026 in Phnom Penh on 9 June 2026. On the session “Planning, Development, and Delivery of Industrial Parks,” he made the case for integrating sustainability into Cambodia’s industrial zones from the design stage.
This not just about being an eventual upgrade, but as part of how a park gets built and then runs.

A forum on Cambodia’s industrial future
The EuroCham Industrial Park and SEZ Forum 2026, hosted by the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham Cambodia) and its Construction and Real Estate Committee, brought together investors, developers, government representatives, and industry experts to examine the future of Cambodia’s industrial zone development — held as EuroCham Cambodia marks its 15th year.
As the country’s industrial sector expands, the forum put a direct question to its participants: what are the factors shaping how these parks are planned, delivered, and operated?
Alessandro spoke on one of the forum’s main discussion panels, moderated by Mr. Ross Wheble (Vice-Chairperson, EuroCham Real Estate & Construction Committee; Country Head, Knight Frank Cambodia), alongside Mr. Claus Jensen (Managing Director, DSV Cambodia), Mr. François Magnier (International Director and Design Director, IDEC Group Asia), Mr. Kang Leng (CEO, ISI Group), and Mr. Vy Tola (Tender Manager, Standard Construction & Engineering Co., Ltd).
His contribution centred on one question: when does sustainability actually get built into an industrial park — and what happens when it isn’t?
“Sustainability in industrial park development cannot be an afterthought. It needs to be built in from the design stage — and carried through operations. A park that performs well on energy, water, and environment is not only better for Cambodia; it is a more competitive asset for the companies inside it.”

Why operations is the conversation the sector keeps missing
What Alessandro argued at the forum sits outside the green building discussion most practitioners in the region are familiar with. Sustainable design and construction are a known conversation in Cambodia’s commercial sector. Industrial parks and SEZs, though, are often in a different room — one focused on land, logistics, and the cost of entry.
His position: that’s a false trade-off. Sustainable industrial parks can improve operational efficiency, reduce environmental exposure, and strengthen long-term resilience. They support Cambodia’s economic development objectives, not despite their environmental performance but partly because of it. The cost of integrating sustainability from the start is lower than retrofitting later. The performance benefits compound over the asset’s life.
BEE has been delivering green building projects in Cambodia since 2015. Our office in Phnom Penh, established in 2019, is led by Sopharith Vuthy — our Senior Project Engineer and the first professional in Cambodia to hold both LEED AP and EDGE Expert and Auditor credentials.

A visit to the BEE Cambodia team — and a milestone ahead
The forum was one part of Alessandro’s trip to Cambodia. He also visited our Phnom Penh office to spend time with the Cambodia team: Sopharith Vuthy, Try Seng, Vuthy Rin, and Sorachana Yean.
The visit included a tour of the ISPP Visitor and Recreation Center (Falcons Hub), a building at the International School of Phnom Penh (ISPP) that BEE is supporting toward LEED BD+C: Schools Platinum certification — with WELL Concept Integration as part of the scope.
Alessandro visited the project site with Geoffroy Vaulgrenant (Head of Facilities and Operations), Vichet Kem (Senior Manager, Buildings and Ground, MEPF), and Eileen Niedermann (Director), the ISPP team leading the project.

If achieved, the ISPP Visitor and Recreation Center will be Cambodia’s first LEED Platinum school building. We’ll share the certification announcement when it arrives.
About EuroCham Cambodia
The European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham Cambodia) is an independent, non-profit organisation founded in 2011 by the French, German, and British business communities operating in the Kingdom.
It represents over 400 members across seven national chapters spanning 23 European countries, working to promote European business interests in dialogue with the Royal Government of Cambodia. EuroCham Cambodia’s Construction and Real Estate Committee organised the Industrial Park and SEZ Forum 2026.
We’re grateful to EuroCham Cambodia for the platform and the quality of the conversation. Sustainability in Cambodia’s industrial sector is not a distant objective — it is a design decision that gets made, or missed, at the beginning of every project
