About the project
BEE assisted the Grand Prix design and construction teams to achieve the LEED v4 BD&C Gold certification for their museum renovation project in Macau. This project was developed over an existing building where the reuse of existing structural elements and infrastructure enabled us to save precious resources, conserve land, and protect farmland. In addition, the museum adopted a high-reflectance roof to reduce the energy intended for cooling purposes during summer by painting the roof using a brighter color and replacing the existing brick tiles on the roof with solar panels.
Other highlights include:
- Installed PV panel system on the roof, the Grand Prix Macao museum uses clean energy, reducing its reliance on fossil-fuel produced energy
- Highly efficient water fixtures employed in the project led to saving up to 40% of water usage
- The lighting systems were specifically designed to maximize the visual comfort of the visitors. The lighting levels and the Color Rendering Index of the exhibition area reach values of 500 lux and CRI>84 respectively
- All paintings, adhesives, flooring and insultation related materials were previously tested to guarantee low levels of toxic outgassing gases such as VOCs
